EAA 347 Advises Bailes (7R9) on Runway Improvement
January 25, 2003 - EAA 347 officers and participating members provided advice and expertise
toward a much needed improvement to the north end of the Bailes runway.
Every year for the past several years, the north end of the runway would become muddy with each successive rain,
usually more noticeable in the fall and winter months. The last couple of years have been particularly wet, and
the pattern of rainfall has kept the runway soggy.
At the annual meeting, Chapter 347 officers and attending members provided advice and expertise toward the goal
of improving the runeway. John Crosley volunteered the use of a front-end loader. John Riley and Bill Terrell
conferred on which type of material was best.

After the meeting, many of the participants walked out on to the runway to observe work that John Crosley had done
so far, trying to deepen a ditch on the west side of the runway.
More information on this project, as it occurs, will be posted here. |
